A Letter to My Younger Self About Love

There are oh-so-many things I wish Id told my younger self about love, if Id known then what I know now. If I could, I would travel back in time to have a chatty poo with Younger Me about matters of the heart.

So Ive penned a letter to her from Older and Wiser Me with all the love lessons Ive learned and would have passed on — if only Id known better.

Dear Younger Me,

Youre a sweet thing, you know that? Behind that gruff exterior lies a very soft heart. That soft heart, while frustrating at your age, will allow you to do some very good things in the world later in life. Embrace your soft heart and remind yourself that its okay not to be the tough girl all the time.

Critics Split On ‘The Five-Year Engagement’

Five Year Engagement opens today and it seems critics either like the new Jason Segel and Emily Blunt starrer or are very underwhelmed by the entire thing. Most do seem to agree however that Alison Brie of Mad Men and Community fame is hysterical. take a look at some of the reviews below.

Once you go with its premise, the movie is an enjoyable grab bag of messy life circumstances. Tom and Violet drift, love, fight, disengage, do pillow-talk therapy — and thats all before Tom goes off the deep end. Meanwhile, the movie, like so many Apatow productions, finds an antic redemption in the spirit of the group — Toms co-workers, and also Violets highly amusing team of postdoc psychology...

Adrian College seniors and faculty are up in arms over the colleges decision to invite 1950s and 1960s singer Pat Boone to receive an honorary degree and give the commencement address on Sunday. The immediate cause of their displeasure was comments by the one-time pop idol they considered racist, sexist, homophobic, and religiously intolerant. The best that can be said for the choice is that Adrians Class of 2012 wont soon forget who spoke at their graduation.

Adrian students arent the only ones who are disappointed...

Celeb antics make for great viewing

With so much programming on TV, a show has to be incredibly special to not only attract viewers but to keep them. Although I do not know its ratings, Vuzus 10 Over 10 is such a programme.

It showcases local celebrities – from their feuds to their love affairs and dramatic break-ups, all with the help of a tongue-in-cheek voice-over artist and a variety of commentators.

The topics vary week to week.

In the sexiest beach bodies episode, sexy males competed against each other. The line-up ranged from male model Stevel Marc and Mr Lee-Ann Liebenberg, Nicky van der Walt, to TV and radio guy Sizwe Dlomo (and while hes undeniably gorgeous, I cant say Ive ever seen topless...

Row as public pays twice over for Trafalgar Square artwork

A large-scale sculpture of Nelsons ship in a bottle stood on the fourth plinth in Londons Trafalgar Square for 20 months until last January. Now this public art commission by the mayor of London has sailed into a controversial squall over its overall cost and accusations that the public has paid for it twice.

Yinka Shonibares critically acclaimed wood-and-fabric replica of HMS Victory, the flagship of Admiral Lord Nelson, in a Perspex bottle has cost the public £535,000. The original £170,000 commission, £30,000 of which was the artists fee, was funded by the Greater London Authority (GLA) and Arts Council England. The balance of £140,000 was for materials and production costs.
